What is the cellular network?

The cellular network also called mobile network. which is a hardware structure of mobile communication. Cellular network can be divided into analog cellular network and digital cellular network. Because the signal coverage of communication base stations that constitutes the hexagonal network coverage, so the whole network is named as a cellular network.

 

The usual types of the cellular network are GSM (PCS-1900 in some countries), CDMA, 3G, FDMA, TDMA, PDC, TACS, AMPS, etc.

 

The cellular network consists of three parts: mobile station, base station subsystem, network subsystem. The mobile station is like a network terminal device, such as mobile or cellular industrial control device. Base station subsystem includes the mobile base station (big iron tower), wireless transceiver equipment, the private network (usually fiber optic), wireless digital equipment and so on. We can regard the base station subsystem as the convertor of the wireless network between the wired network.

 

What is a cellular router?

A cellular router is a cellular network device that connects a local network to the internet, in other words, the cellular router forwards data packets between the computer and the networks. A cellular router can be used wherever the carrier’s network covers. Unlike the free wifi network, users need to pay the cellular network.

 

In terms of network types, cellular routers include GPRS, CDMA, EDGE, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, EVDOE, and TDD routers. In terms of network bandwidth, cellular routers include 2.5G, 2.75G, 3G and 4G routers. In terms of networks, cellular routers include GPRS, CDMA, EDGE, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, and EVDO routers.

 

Generally, cellular routers connect terminal devices with Ethernet interfaces. As long as the network device with Ethernet interface or RS232 interface, computer and other embedded application systems can use the cellular router. 

Simply insert the SIM/UIM card into the slot of the cellular router, energize the cellular router, and the cellular router will automatically connect to the wireless network. At this time, the terminal device can surf the Internet through the cellular router, realizing the network services such as browsing the web, watching the video and transmitting data, etc. 

PS: the router only provides network access, and other services are completed by the terminal device itself.

 

The cellular router also supports APN(VPDN), NAT, DMZ, STATIC ROUTE, FILTER, and various VPN networking (such as PPTP, L2TP, IPSEC, GRE), and supports WIFI set-up WLAN, GPS positioning, dual network redundancy backup, and other functions.

 

The applications of the cellular router

Currently, cellular routers are mainly used in power, industry, environmental protection, hydrology, disaster prevention and early warning, finance, retail, transportation, municipal and other industries. It can realize network transmissions such as traffic jam snapshot, traffic video monitoring, wireless vehicle-borne video monitoring, oil well video monitoring, power transmission substation video monitoring, dam body snapshot and video monitoring, lottery machine, automatic ticket machine, POS machine, and ATM machine.
